Rolston retires after 17 years in NHL
Brian Rolston announced his retirement from the NHL on Tuesday after spending 17 years in the league with five different teams.
The 40-year-old forward finished his career with 761 points in 1,256 regular-season games with New Jersey, Colorado, Boston, Minnesota and the New York Islanders. He won a Stanley Cup with the Devils in 1994-95, his rookie season.
"Getting the chance to play the game I love for 17 years has truly been a dream come true," said Rolston, who did not play in a game this season. "My career has taken me to many great places where I had the privilege to play with some exceptional teammates and in the best league in the world. The memories of all my experiences will certainly stick with me for the rest of my life. I am grateful for the overwhelming support of my friends, family and fans throughout my career."
In addition to his career in the NHL, Rolston represented Team USA in the 1994, 2002 and 2006 Olympic Games. Team USA won a silver medal in Salt Lake City in 2002.
