Preseason awards give fans an excellent indicator of who to watch for, hence why they’re called a “watch list.”

Arkansas’ rising senior center Ricky Stromberg joins a list of 89 players for the Preseason Outland Trophy watch list

Stromberg played in all 13 games last season with 873 snaps at center. He led an offensive line that blocked for the best rushing attack in the Power 5, averaging 227.8 yards a game. On his way to being named third-team All-SEC by the Associated Press, Stromberg only allowed three sacks.

The Outland Trophy goes to the best interior lineman in the country – offensive or defensive. It is named after John H. Outland, who was inducted into the college football hall of fame in 2001. This year’s list of 89 players consists of 29 offensive tackles, 25 defensive tackles, 18 guards, and

Stromberg aims to be the first Razorback to win the award since defensive tackle Lloyd Phillips in 1966 and the first offensive Razorback since guard Bud Brooks in 1954.

Stromberg, in three seasons, has started 32 games in his career and played 2,242 snaps. He entered Fayetteville as a four-star guard out of Union High school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. 247 Sports ranked him as the 19th best offensive lineman in the country before committing to Arkansas.

Pro Football Network ranked Stromberg as the fourth best center heading into the 2022 NFL Draft. Another big season on the ground from the Razorbacks could set Stromberg up to be a day one selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. Landing on a preseason watch list makes his decision to stay for his senior season look like a smart one.
