BOYS SOCCER

Division II

Chariho 5, Coventry 3 (Tues.)

In the season opener for both schools, Kody Poplaski scored 3 goals and Travis Plante added 2 more in the Chargers victory over the Oakers.

Division IV

Davies 3, Blackstone Valley 0

Davies opened the season with a tough, gritty and extremely hot contest that ended in victory. Both goals were scored by Allessandro Sanchez. Davies keeper Miguel Vazquez recorded his first clean sheet of the season by stopping multiple shots point blank. Timely team defense from Luke DucharmeMatthew CruzJose Garcia and Jaitlan Pereira held off a furious barrage from BVP late in the game.

GIRLS SOCCER

Division I

Pilgrim 6, Moses Brown 3

Amaya Coffie scored four goals and added an assist, Lorelai Leddy and Chloe Casavant tallied a goal apiece and Lily Howard, Alison Patten and Larisa Stewart each contributed an assist in Pilgrim's victory. Camilia Leiba had a goal and an assist and Keilly Quezada and Gwendolyn Purnell had a goal each for the Moses Brown. Goaltender Jenna Madden had 6 saves for the Patriots and Elise Curtis had 8 saves for the Quakers.

Nonleague

Westerly 7, North Providence 0

Virginia Royce def. Isabella Cardarelli, 6-2, 6-0; Mallorey Clark def. Stefanie Jordan, 3-6, 6-4, 11-11 (Ret.); Erica Nyberg def. Maria Fontaine, 6-2, 6-1; Margaret Scanapieco def. Caroline Ricci, 6-3, 6-1; Addison Serra & Simone Hackett def. Isabella Sihalath & Isabella Wu, 6-0, 6-3; Mia Urso & Caroline Wade def. Emily Velasquez & Andrea Maisonet, 6-1, 6-1; Madison Mankiff & Sophia Horton def. Mendyn Chen & Alisha Zuang, 6-2, 6-0.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Division I

Prout 3, West Warwick 0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-20). JV - P, 2-0.

Paige Megley recorded 6 kills and a block and teammate Brooke Rutherford had 7 aces as Prout upended West Warwick, 3-0. Liz Grecian had 6 kills and Emma Pinault had 7 digs for the Wizards in the loss.

Division II

East Providence 3, Cranston West 0 (25-10, 26-24, 25-22)

The Townies opened their season with a solid showing. Eliza Vest had 7 kills, 3 aces, 4 digs and Keira Mullen had 9 kills, 4 aces and a pair of blocks in the win. For the Falcons, Olivia Venagro had 9 assists, 3 kills, and 7 digs in the loss.

Division III

Tolman 3, Woonsocket 0 (25-22, 25-21, 27-25)

Toll Gate 3, Central 0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-14)

The play of Mary McNulty (6 aces, 5 kills), Reese Hillier (6 aces, 4 digs) and Lucy Lajoie (5 aces, 3 digs) helped lift Toll Gate to victory over Central. Kathie Saykouman had 2 kills amd 3 digs for the Knights.

Division IV

Blackstone Valley 3, Davies 0 (24-14, 25-2, 25-13)

Jaiyla Davis recorded 8 kills, Alex Costa had 6 service aces and Bella Gomes dished off 5 assists in the Pride's win over the Patriots.

PCD 3, Hope 0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-20); JV - 1-1

Lana Kooloian had 12 aces and Ada Wetherby had 6 as the Knights opened their season with a shutout victory. Trinity Preston added 2 blocks for Providence Country Day. For the Blue Wave, Arianys Garo Rios had 5 kills, 4 aces, and 3 digs in the loss.

Nonleague

Chariho 3, Mount St. Charles 0 (27-25, 25-6, 26-24)

The Chargers' Alexis Cole led the way with 28 assists, 5 aces and 8 digs, Jules White added 8 kills, 4 aces and 7 digs, and Grace MacLeod added 7 kills and 6 digs in the season-opening victory. For the Mounties,  Mazie Phillips had 4 aces and Sophia Baeta had 10 digs in the non-league loss.
