Rex Burkhead provides positive update on rehab for knee injury

Rex Burkhead was one of the more productive players while on the field for the New England Patriots last year. He totaled 466 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns in the ten games he appeared in.

Cam Newton was beginning to trust him in clutch situations, but that all ended after Burkhead was carted off with a season-ending knee injury in Week 11. Burkhead, 30, had a successful offseason surgery and is now a free agent testing the market for the 2021 season. Teams likely are staying away from an aging running back who’s recovering from a major knee injury until he appears to be ready for action.

Burkhead went to Instagram on Thursday to give that positive update and prove he’ll be ready for next season.

The Patriots re-signed James White and will return Sony Michel, Damien Harris, J.J. Taylor and Brandon Bolden. Re-signing Burkhead could be a fairly cheap scenario and it’s extremely likely he finds himself back in Foxborough in 2021.
