Reports: Lincecum throws in low 90s at showcase

Tim Lincecum apparently impressed at his showcase held Thursday just outside Seattle.

Scouts in attendance at the event clocked the right-hander's fastball between 90-92 mph, according to multiple reports, with FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman hearing from a scout that Lincecum hit 93 on the gun.

About 20 scouts representing approximately 15 teams reportedly were on hand for the event. Lincecum threw about 25 pitches out of the windup in the 10-minute session.

"I think he'll definitely get a job, there's no doubt about that," a source at the showcase told MLB.com. "At this time of the year, it's probably a minor league contract with an invitation (to spring training), but he'll get signed."

Lincecum didn't pitch professionally in 2017 after a disastrous run with the Los Angeles Angels in 2016. The 33-year-old was cut by the Halos after going 2-6 with a 9.16 ERA in nine starts, walking 23, serving up 11 home runs and striking out 32 in 38 1/3 innings.

His fastball averaged 88.4 mph in 2016, according to FanGraphs.

Lincecum was one of baseball's best pitchers in his early years with the San Francisco Giants. He won back-to-back National League Cy Young Awards in 2008 and '09, led the league in strikeouts each year from '08-'10 and was named an All-Star four times in his first five seasons.

Lincecum's performance declined steeply in 2012, as he posted a 5.18 ERA. His next three seasons with the Giants were marred by injuries and inconsistency, and the team let him become a free agent at the end of the 2015 season.

Lincecum signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Angels in May 2016 following a showcase.
