Reports: Former Cowboys CB Scandrick reaches deal with Redskins

Free-agent cornerback Orlando Scandrick agreed to a two-year contract worth close to $10 million with the Washington Redskins, according to multiple reports on Monday.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported the deal is for two years and worth a maximum of $10 million.

Scandrick agreed to the deal just two days after being released by the Dallas Cowboys, one of Washington's NFC East rivals.

Scandrick, 31, spent 10 seasons with the Cowboys, who drafted him in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

The Redskins were looking for a veteran corner after trading Kendall Fuller to the Kansas City Chiefs and allowing Bashaud Breeland become a free agent.

Dallas intends to designate Scandrick as a post-June 1 cut, so that will free up $3 million in salary cap space this year.

The Cowboys have been looking to get younger at cornerback and began the movement when they selected Chidobe Awuzie in the second round of the 2017 NFL draft and Jourdan Lewis one round later.

Scandrick started 11 games last season and 69 since joining the Cowboys in 2008. His 2017 season was cut short by a back injury.

He has eight interceptions, seven forced fumbles and 11.5 sacks in 125 career games.

Scandrick has dealt with injuries in recent seasons, the most costly when he tore the ACL and MCL in his right knee during a training camp practice that forced him to miss the 2015 campaign.
