Report: Warriors working out free agent guard Isaiah Thomas next week

Before the start of training camp, the Golden State Warriors are still exploring different options for their 15th roster spot before the start of training camp.

After working out veteran guards like Darren Collison and Ryan Arcidiacono, the Warriors will reportedly bring in another proven guard for a workout. According to Hoops Hype and Mike Scotto, the Warriors are working out Isaiah Thomas next week.

After earning two straight bids to the NBA All-Star game in 2015 and 2016, Thomas has dealt with injuries. However, when healthy, the former Washington Husky is a proven scorer – something the Warriors need behind Steph Curry.

Over his 10 seasons in the NBA, Thomas has averaged 18.1 points on 43.5% shooting from the field with 4.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game. During the 2020-21 season, Thomas played three games with the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging 7.7 points on 33.3% shooting from the field in 16 minutes per game.

As an All-Star with the Boston Celtics in 2016, Thomas notched a career-high 28.9 points per game on 46.3% shooting from the floor. Thomas has bounced around the league since suffering a significant hip injury in 2017.

Thomas has also played for the Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets and Washington Wizards.
