Report: Warriors hosting ‘competitive workout’ with Chris Duarte, Trey Murphy, Moses Moody and Davion Mitchell

With the 2021 NBA draft only days away, the Golden State Warriors are still doing their final rounds of homework before going on the clock with the No. 7 and No. 14 picks on the board.

After working out a flurry of different prospects during the pre-draft process, the Warriors are reportedly hosting another “competitive” workout session with four players that could be in consideration with one of Golden State’s first-round picks.

According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, the Warriors will hold a workout with Oregon’s Chris Duarte, Virginia’s Trey Murphy, Arkansas’ Moses Moody and Baylor’s Davion Mitchell. Results from the workout could play a role in Golden State’s decision for the No. 14 pick, per Givony.

Via @DraftExpress on Twitter:

Duarte, Moody and Mitchell have been heavily linked to the Warriors during the pre-draft process. All three have reportedly worked out with Golden State leading up to draft week. The trio has also been penned alongside the Warriors in different mock drafts.

After two seasons at Rice, Murphy III spent the 2020-21 campaign with the Virginia Cavaliers. The 21-year-old guard averaged 11.3 points on 50.3% shooting from the floor with 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest in 25 games.

In the latest NBA wire mock draft, Murphy came off the board with the No. 24 overall selection in the first round to the Houston Rockets.

Via Rookie Wire:

Murphy is a versatile athlete who shot better than 42% on 3-pointers in two of his three college seasons, and he exceeded 50% overall with Virginia last season. That combination of shooting, length and athleticism is always in demand in the modern NBA, which craves “3&D” wings.

Following Golden State’s “competitive” workout, Bob Myers and Steve Kerr will only have a handful of days to iron out their plan for draft day.
