Report: Vikings to re-sign QB Nick Mullens

The Minnesota Vikings had a few questions to answer about the quarterback position for the 2023 season and they answered one of them on Tuesday morning.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Vikings are re-signing backup quarterback Nick Mullens.

After both Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion were disasters in the first two preseason games, the Vikings swung a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders to acquire Mullens for a seventh-round pick. In 2022, he accounted for $1.25 million on the salary cap. A new contract should be worth around that same number.

A move to re-sign Mullens is smart. If something were to happen to Kirk Cousins, he has shown the aptitude to win games when called upon, having been able to do that in his previous stops.
