Report: Patriots sign defensive lineman in much-needed depth move

The New England Patriots signed defensive lineman Manny Jones to the practice squad Wednesday, per the Boston Herald’s Doug Kyed.

Jones has NFL experience, having played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals. He has six tackles in four games played. He played college football at Colorado State and went undrafted in 2022.

This is certainly a notable move, as New England is hurting at the defensive line position. Daniel Ekuale is believed to have a torn biceps, as noted in a report from ESPN’s Mike Reiss. He will undergo more testing for the diagnosis. At the very least, Jones gives New England flexibility on the defensive line.

The Patriots need all of the help they can get heading into Week 4 for a tough road matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. A win would even out their record and get them back on track.
