Report: Nets have not discussed Ben Simmons in Damian Lillard trade with Heat

The Brooklyn Nets have been making things happen this offseason as the roster is now markedly different now than it was last season when the team made it to the playoffs. However, despite some rumors, there is one player that hasn’t been discussed as possibly being traded away this summer.

Per a recent article by Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports, as Brooklyn has had discussions of being the third team to help facilitate Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard being traded to the Miami Heat, the Nets have not included Ben Simmons in any of those discussions. There have been recent reports that Brooklyn is interested in receiving Heat guard Tyler Herro in this three-team negotiation, but it looks like the Nets do not want to use Simmons to make it happen.

Fischer points out in his piece that Brooklyn seems determined to see what a healthy Simmons looks like for the team next season especially since he is owed about $78 million over the next two seasons. Simmons, 26, has played just 42 games in one-and-a-half seasons ever since he was traded to Brooklyn in the James Harden deal.
