Memphis Grizzlies won't bring back Dillon Brooks as unrestricted free agent | Report
Dillon Brooks' time in Memphis is over, according to a report Tuesday from the Athletic. Brooks will not return to the Grizzlies after spending his first six seasons with the team.
This will be Brook's first offseason as an unrestricted free agent. The Grizzlies signed him to an extension after his rookie contract ended.
Brooks was one of five Grizzlies players who were in line for extensions before the 2022-23 season. The Grizzlies extended Ja Morant, John Konchar, Brandon Clarke and Steven Adams, but the team did not agree to a deal with Brooks. The Athletic reported that Brooks was offered a contract extension that he declined.
In six seasons with the Grizzlies, Brooks averaged 14.5 points on 41.6% shooting.

Losing Brooks is a blow to the Grizzlies' perimeter defense. He has the toughest scoring matchup in most games while allowing Morant and Desmond Bane to focus more on their offense.
Memphis will aim to replace Brooks. General manager and president of basketball operations Zach Kleiman said Sunday that Memphis wants to be very aggressive in the summer.
Without Brooks returning, the Grizzlies have one current open roster spot to upgrade the starting small forward position.
