Report: Malaki Branham, others worked out with Cavaliers on Wednesday

Ohio State freshman Malaki Branham on Wednesday was reportedly among the prospects to participate in a pre-draft workout with the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.

Branham, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, averaged 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and two assists in 32 games with the Buckeyes. He was one of five freshmen in the country to have multiple 30-point games, and one of two from a Power Five school.

The 6-foot-5 guard is regarded as one of the top shooters in the draft after converting 41.6% of his 3-point attempts last season. He tied a Buckeyes freshman record with six 3s on Jan. 2 en route to a career-high 35-point performance.

In addition to Branham, the Cavaliers also hosted Alabama guard Keon Ellis and NBA G League Ignite forward MarJon Beauchamp among others. Cleveland has also previously worked out prospects like Tari Eason, TyTy Washington and E.J. Liddell.

Cleveland enters the draft with the 14th pick in the first round and selections 39 and 58 in the second round, respectively. Of the group on Wednesday, Branham and Beauchamp could be possible targets at 14.

The NBA draft will take place on June 23.
