Report: S.F. Chronicle to stop using "Redskins" name
The San Francisco Chronicle has decided to no longer print the name "Redskins" when reporting on the NFL team from Washington, ProFootballTalk.com reported Tuesday.
The newspaper has made no announcement about the decision, and, according to the report, the change may be reported in a column in the paper.
The 49ers play at Washington on Monday, November 25.
The Chronicle would not be the first major media organization to stop using the Redskins name. The Kansas City Star, Slate.com and Peter King's TheMMQB.com don't use it.
President Obama has encouraged the Redskins to change their nickname.
On Wednesday, representatives from the Oneida Indian Nation will meet with NFL executives regarding opposition to the name. Team owner Daniel Snyder reportedly told Commissioner Roger Goodell on Tuesday that Snyder does not plan to change the name.
