DB Dicaprio Bootle ‘jawing’ with offense at practice, fostering camaraderie

Dicaprio Bootle has one of the best names in the NFL and a Super Bowl ring from his time with the Kansas City Chiefs to boot. He has found his way onto the team’s roster in recent seasons but isn’t exactly a star on the Chiefs’ defense, and is fighting for his future in Kansas City as a third-year defensive back in an exceptionally deep secondary.

Tensions between Bootle and All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce spilled over at the Chiefs’ Friday practice session after a particularly hard rep in drills ended in what looked like an intense exchange of words. @BBQChiefs on Twitter documented the incident, posting a video of the exchange to the beleaguered social media site:

A report from practice on Saturday, however, indicated that Bootle’s antagonization of the Chiefs offense seems to be in good fun when another verbal exchange with Richie James ended in a more brotherly gesture from the veteran receiver on the sideline.

Bootle is a player to watch in camp as he competes for playing time in Kansas City’s defense. Perhaps his edge at practice has been what has made him stand out to coaches, who will decide his future with the Chiefs at the end of the preseason.
