Report: Brooklyn Nets and Spencer Dinwiddie interested in extension
The Brooklyn Nets have moved on to free-agency now that the 2023 NBA Draft has passed and it looks like they have big plans ahead of them.
According to Ian Begley of SNY, the Nets and guard Spencer Dinwiddie are interested in talking about an extensions later on this season. Dinwiddie, 30, has spent the majority of his nine-year career with the Nets (2016-21 and 2022-23) and it seems that he is at his most comfortable in Brooklyn. In his 26 games for the Nets in 2022-23, after coming to Brooklyn by way of the Kyrie Irving trade, Dinwiddie had one of his better seasons.
Dinwiddie, the 38th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft out of the University of Colorado, averaged 16.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game while shooting 40.4% from the field and 28.9% from three-point land. Dinwiddie is going into the last season of his contract and is owed $20.357 million for the 2023-24 season. The future of Dinwiddie potentially depends on whether Brooklyn is able to attract a star-level player this offseason.
