The Blue Jackets are one of three NHL teams yet to play in an outdoor game, but according to The Hockey News Columbus, that is set to change in 2025.

The report, which cites "multiple sources," says the Blue Jackets will be hosting a 2025 NHL Stadium Series game at Ohio Stadium on or around March 1.

NHL representatives were in Columbus for the Ohio State football game against Michigan State on Nov. 11 as part of a site survey.

The Blue Jackets, through spokesperson Todd Sharrock, declined to comment. In the past, the team has expressed interest in hosting an outdoor game sooner than later.

Ohio State spokesperson Jerry Emig said the school did not have any information to offer at this time.

Editor's note: The Blue Jackets are one of three teams never to play in an outdoor game. An earlier version of this story stated they were one of three teams never to host, but there are a number of teams that have yet to host.
