Report: Bears have expressed interest in Colts RB Jonathan Taylor
The Indianapolis Colts have granted disgruntled running back Jonathan Taylor permission to seek a trade. And it sounds like the Chicago Bears could be interested.
ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported that six teams have inquired about Taylor’s availability, including two teams who have made offers. And, according to Colts beat writer Destin Adams, the Bears are one of those teams. Although, no offer has been made.
According to Holder, the ask is a first-round pick or package of picks worth similar value.

While there’s no denying Taylor would be a great asset for quarterback Justin Fields, it doesn’t make sense for the Bears to make the move. They feel confident in the running back group they’ve assembled with Khalil Herbert, primed for a big year, and new additions D’Onta Foreman and rookie Roschon Johnson. Not to mention, Fields is a running threat in his own right.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer mentioned the Bears as one of the two teams he’s keeping an eye on. Breer mentioned Matt Eberflus and Taylor working together in Indianapolis, the Ryan Poles-Chris Ballard relationship dating back to Kansas City, the fact that they’re a running team and they have the draft capital to get a deal done.
While there’s certainly buzz building around the idea of Taylor to Chicago, there are more realistic options out there, including the Miami Dolphins.
