Red Dragons take down Hawks 16-9 in Oneonta lacrosse battle

Mar. 7—The SUNY Oneonta men's lacrosse team took down cross-street rival Hartwick in a 16-9 win at home Thursday thanks to six unanswered goals in the second half.

Thomas Hnis led the way with six goals while Eric Nicholson, Matthew Krieg and Evan Kelly each added two goals and Jesse Alfano St. John, Jamie O'Neill, Andrew Guinto and Gavin Teiner each scored once in the win.

Nicholson and Krieg each had four assists for the Red Dragons.

Garrett Frost led the Hawks with three goals while Seth Bello added two and Spencer Hogaboom, Tyler Nocito, Liam McManus and Luke Ward each scored in the loss.

Harrison Boukas had 14 saves for Oneonta while Chris Andersen tallied 11 for Hartwick.

Oneonta improves to 3-1 and will visit nationally-ranked Stevens Saturday while Hartwick falls to 1-2 and will host Mount Saint Mary College Tuesday.

SUNY Delhi 18, Keystone 10 (Wednesday)

A 6-1 first quarter propelled SUNY Delhi to an 18-10 win over Keystone at home Wednesday.

Benjamin Moscatiello led the Broncos with five goals and three assists while Greg Junge, Chris Lazazzaro and Joe Anfuso each scored three goals and Anthony Durrant, Jagger Beachak, Peyton Lamon and Anthony Ferrato each scored once. Beachak added six assists.

Delhi improves to 4-0 and will host Marywood Saturday.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

The Hartwick women's lacrosse team took down SUNY Morrisville 18-9 behind eight first-quarter goals Wednesday on the road.

Kristen Vaccarelli led the Hawks with six goals while Katrina Marten, Elle Stringer, Hanna Goodreau and Kara Anderson each scored twice and Emily Madigan, Claudia Pollaro, Maura Donoghue and Gwen Cox all scored once in the win.

Brooke Lynett tallied three saves for the Hawks.

Hartwick improves to 1-1 and will host SUNY Canton Saturday.
