Recap: CU women’s basketball dominates Kentucky in second Paradise Jam game

The 2023 Paradise Jam struck gold with its scheduling. After routing Kentucky on Friday, the No. 3 Colorado women’s basketball team will play its final game of the preseason tournament against No. 10 North Carolina State on Saturday.

Against the Wildcats, the Buffs used stifling defense and efficient offense throughout the 96-53 win. Colorado shot a season-best 37-of-62 (59.7%) from the field and pressured the Wildcats into 27 turnovers, 16 of which were steals.

CU got scoring from all over the court. Led by center Aaronette Vonleh’s 19, five Buffs scored double-digit points.

CU got off to a slow start as Kentucky played tough and opened the game on a 9-2 scoring run. However, Colorado cranked up the pressure and ended the opening quarter on a 14-0 run. Guards Kindyll Wetta and Tameiya Sadler collected five steals each in the game.

You can catch Colorado’s final Paradise Jam Classic game against NC State on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT (ESPN3).
