Some of them will become basketball immortals. Some will flame out in three years. Some will lead their teams to NBA championships, and some will bounce around the league for a decade. But for one last night, the NBA's newest players got a chance to be kids.

Zion Williamson went to New Orleans with the first pick of Thursday's NBA Draft, and he wept when speaking of his mother's sacrifices for his career. Ja Morant went second, to Memphis, andhis dad showed up to the draft looking ready to own Beale Street.

But the best parent-child moment of the night might have come from newly minted Knick R.J. Barrett. Interviewed alongside his father, both Barretts teared up at the culmination of their dreams. And when Rowan Barrett said, "I'm proud of you, son," it got a little dusty for the viewing audience too.

This is the NBA Draft, and that means there are plenty of outstanding-slash-questionable fashion choices, too. Jaxson Hayes, one of the newest Pelicans, sported some Sideshow Bob jewelry, while Bol Bol looked like he was auditioning for "Venom 2." And Darius Garland apparently joined Cleveland after playing for Tatooine University.

As of today, these guys are now pros, and tears aren't permitted until they hoist a Larry O'Brien Trophy. (Or until Barrett realizes he's playing for the Knicks.) But for one last night on Thursday, some of the world's best basketball players got a sweet moment in the spotlight to thank those who helped get them there.
