Ravens QB Lamar Jackson knocked out of game vs. Browns with ankle injury
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson left Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Cleveland Browns in the second quarter after sustaining an ankle injury and did not return.
Jackson exited after being hit low by Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on a pass attempt, grabbing his right leg as he remained on the ground. He went to the medical tent for further evaluation and was carted to the locker room.
Jackson, the 2019 NFL MVP, was 4-of-4 passing for 17 yards before leaving the game. The Browns led 10-0 at the time.
The Ravens initially listed Jackson as questionable to return but later ruled him out for the rest of the contest.
Tyler Huntley replaced Jackson after the starter's departure. Huntley completed 27 of 38 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown, but his fourth-and-6 throw to wide receiver Rashod Bateman from Baltimore's 45-yard line only went for 2 yards, sealing the result.
Jackson left the stadium in a protective boot. Ravens coach Jim Harbaugh said Jackson would undergo further tests Monday to determine the severity of the injury.
The loss was the Ravens' fourth in their last six games.
The Ravens have been hit hard by injury this year. Entering Sunday, the team had 17 players on injured reserve, including running backs J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Justice Hill, cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters, offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and defensive end Derek Wolfe.
