Randall promotes Brad Propst to head baseball coach and other hires around the Panhandle

When Cory Hamilton announced his retirement as head baseball coach of the Randall Raiders last month, there was speculation around who would take his place. There was no shortage of interest in such a high-profile position, but there were also multiple internal candidates that were strong options.

In the end, CISD athletic director Toby Tucker went with a name they knew best.

Brad Propst, who spent the 2022 season as an assistant coach for the Raiders, has been promoted to head coach. The announcement was made by CISD last Monday.

Though he was an assistant for one year, Propst is a former Raider player and graduate of Randall High. He played collegiate baseball at Oklahoma State before being drafted by the Houston Astros in 2011. Following his professional career, he became an assistant coach at Lubbock High before taking the same position at Willis.

Propst has head coaching experience, having been moved up to head coach at Willis in 2016 before coming to Randall last year. He will inherit a team coming off its first state tournament appearance in 16 years that returns a good stable of rising seniors led by Texas Tech commit Hagen Shed.
