Rams shine on new turf
Mar. 12—RACELAND — Raceland's baseball team wasted no time succeeding on its new turf field.
The Rams jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three innings and beat Wayne, West Virginia, 7-1, in the 2024 season opener on Monday night.
Zane Bailey, Eli Lynd and Parker Fannin had a pair of hits apiece. Bailey and Ison each drove in two runs. Fannin scored twice and reached base in three of four plate appearances.
Kadin Shore added a hit and an RBI. Parker Ison and Bailey each tallied two RBIs.
Brayden Webb doubled and scored two times.
Shore tossed 3 2/3 innings, relenting only one hit while striking out six. He walked three. Stephen Pennington threw 1 1/3 hitless, scoreless innings. He fanned three and issued one free pass.
Webb gave up two hits in two innings while collecting a pair of punch outs.
Raceland (1-0) will host Fairview today at 5:30 p.m.
