Raising the bar: Presenting the 2023-24 Taunton Daily Gazette Gymnastics All-Scholastics
Another high school gymnastics season has come and gone in the Greater Taunton area.
Once again, Bridgewater-Raynham/West Bridgewater (5-1, 5-1 Cranberry League) led the way locally, with the co-op capturing its eighth straight Cranberry League Championship and finishing fifth overall at the MIAA South Sectionals. Taunton (4-4, 4-4 Hockomock League) improved over last winter with some strong performances and finished fifth at the Hockomock League Championship, with Sophia Hall having a meet-high beam score of 9.1 in the All-Around.
With the winter season now in the rearview, here's a final look back at the Greater Taunton area gymnasts who stood out among the crowd to earn their spot as 2023-24 Taunton Daily Gazette Gymnastics All-Scholastics.
Gymnast of the Year
Lily Moreira, Bridgewater-Raynham/West Bridgewater
The sophomore truly established herself for the Trojans this winter, winning the All-Around at the Cranberry Championship with a combined score of 36.95, earning a 9.4 on both the bars and beam. She recorded a season-high score of 9.55 on the bars against Carver/Middleboro, a best ever floor score of 9.5 against Somerset Berkley/Case and a best ever beam score of 9.45 against Cohasset/Norwell.
A Cranberry All-Star and an Enterprise/Patriot Ledger First Team All-Scholastic, expect Moreira to continue to be a key part of the co-op over the next two years.
