Quay Walker injury update: What we know after Packers linebacker left Monday's game vs. Raiders
Packers linebacker Quay Walker didn't return to the Oct. 9 game against Las Vegas after suffering a knee injury. Here's what we know about the ailment.
When was Quay Walker injured?
Walker left in the second quarter of the Packers' loss to the Raiders on Monday night with a knee injury and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the game.
Will Quay Walker be back for the next game?
The Packers have the bye next week and don't play again until Oct. 22 against Denver. Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that he felt good both Walker and safety Darnell Savage (calf injury) avoided long-term absences, but he didn't offer specifics of the injury.
“We’ll kind of let that play out,” LaFleur said. “We’re hopeful we can potentially get them back for Denver, but obviously that’s almost two weeks away.”
When will we get another update on Quay Walker's health?
The Packers won't have practice during the bye week and will return to Green Bay on Monday, with the first injury report expected on Wednesday, though Packers coach Matt LaFleur will also meet the media Monday.
Quay Walker had 19 tackles against Detroit
Walker has been one of the team's most active defensive players in 2023. He recorded 19 total tackles (one tackle for loss) against Detroit in a 34-20 loss in Week 4, although he did commit a costly penalty late in the game.
The first-round pick out of Georgia in the 2022 draft also has an interception this year returned for a touchdown in Week 1 against the Bears. On that play, Walker took a violent hit at the end and had to progress through concussion protocol in order to play the following week, when he had 17 tackles in a loss to Atlanta.
Walker has said he's dedicated to maintaining a calm demeanor this season after he was ejected with personal fouls twice last season.
