Prospects the Arizona Cardinals might consider in Day 3 of the NFL draft

The Arizona Cardinals presently have five picks when the 2024 NFL draft wraps up with rounds 4-7 on Saturday at 10 a.m. (Arizona time).

They have one pick in the fourth round (No.104 overall), two in the fifth (Nos. 138 and 162), one in the sixth (No.191) and one in the seventh (No. 226).

“We’ll continue to work our board,” General Manager Monti Ossenfort said at the conclusion of Friday’s round. “We’ve still got guys up there that we like; we’ll see if they’re still standing when we get to them. Again, it’s constantly adding competition to our roster. We can never have enough of it.”

Here are some prospects who might be available at those spots that Arizona should, and likely will, consider selecting:

WR Troy Franklin, 6-2, 176, Oregon

Comment: Franklin set school records last season for receiving yards (1,383), touchdown receptions (13) and most 100-yard receiving games (eight). Yes, the Cardinals found their new No.1 wideout in Marvin Harrison Jr. on Day 1, but Franklin could be an intriguing pick for quality depth and immediate extra production.

Edge: Austin Booker, 6-5, 240, Kansas

Comment: He’s a little raw and doesn’t have the starting experience you’d like, but Booker has great explosiveness and block-back power and considering the Cardinals haven’t really drafted a pure edge rusher yet in this draft, he could be an option in the fourth or fifth round.

LB: Jeremiah Trotter Jr., 6-0, 228, Clemson

Comment: The son of the former 12-year NFL linebacker who spent most of his time with the Eagles, Trotter Jr. could be a fourth- or fifth-round pick. He had 12 sacks, four interceptions and three forced fumbles the past two seasons for the Tigers and could thrive in the right defensive system.

Edge: Mohamed Kamara, 6-1, 248, Colorado State

Comment: Another outside pass rusher who could be a consideration. Kamara had 13 sacks last season and has relentless speed off the edge combined with excellent footwork and hand usage.

Safety: Josh Proctor, 6-1½, 199, Ohio State

Comment: At some point you’d expect the Cardinals to address the safety situation, especially in light of the fact the team hasn’t done anything new yet regarding Budda Baker’s contract. He’s in his last year and although there is an option for 2025, his future is uncertain. Proctor is another prospect who spent a lot of time in college and his experience could be useful, at least for depth purposes.
