PREP ROUNDUP: Priceville, Hartselle to play for Morgan championship

Feb. 24—Priceville's girls will take on Hartselle on Saturday in the final of the Morgan County soccer tournament. The game will take place at 3 p.m. at the Jack Allen Soccer Complex in Decatur.

Friday night Priceville defeated defending county champion Decatur 2-1 in the semifinals. AK Hopkins scored both goals for the Bulldogs with one assist from Lillyan Blooworth. Priceville goalkeeper Tori Staats finished with 33 saves.

In the other semifinal, Hartselle defeated Austin 7-1. Katelyn Dolbeer led the Tigers with three goals, while Addison Button, Care Beth Nelson, Kennedy Vest and Maddy Henry each added a goal.

Baseball

Hartselle 10, Tuscaloosa County 8: Hartselle outlasted Tuscaloosa County in a shootout Friday during a game played at Gulf Shores.

Lawson Williams and Cole Miles each had two hits with Miles adding an RBI. Jo Williamson had a two-run homer and Andrew Coleman added a hit and two RBIs.

West Morgan 11, Elkmont 8: Aiden Kirby led West Morgan with two hits and four RBIs as the Rebels picked up a shootout win over Elkmont on Friday. Trenton Pittman had two hits and three RBIs, while Cole Wallace added two hits and an RBI.

Joey Richards led Elkmont with two hits.

Hartselle 5, Fairhope 4: Lawson Williams finished with two hits and two RBIs to lead Hartselle during the Tigers' win over Fairhope. Jo Williamson and Peyton Steele each had two hits and an RBI.

Falkville 10, Clements 9: Bryant Owens drove in four runs on three hits, including a two-run home run, as Falkville edged Clements on Friday.

Dawson Fowler added three hits, and Sawyer Reynolds had two hits and two RBIs. Owen Teague picked up the save allowing no hits and no runs with four strikeouts in the final two innings.

Austin Craig had two hits and two RBIs to lead Clements.

Wilson 8, West Limestone 6: Easton Smith had a hit and three RBIs for West Limestone on Friday.

Sulligent 11, East Lawrence 1: Sulligent scored nine runs in the first three innings to pull away from the Eagles on Friday.

Softball

Danville 9, New Hope 1: Danville opened its season with a dominant win on Friday over New Hope. Pitcher McKinley McCaghren allowed just one hit and one run with 11 strikeouts and also had two RBIs.

Aubrey Reed, Kirstyn Robinson and Tamara Hutto each had two hits with Reed adding an RBI.

Austin 8, Calera 4: Aby Lindsey had two hits and three RBIs as the Black Bears rolled over Calera.

Lyndi Perkins added two hits and an RBI and Kinsley Higdon had two hits.

Priceville 19, Meek 1: Katee King and Madison Lafountain each had two hits and three RBIs as the Bulldogs defeated Meek in two innings Friday.

Lawrence County 9, Hueytown 7: McKenzie Hyche and Bella Cross each had home runs to lead the Red Devils to a win on Friday. Hyche finished with three hits and two RBIs, while Cross had two hits and three RBIs.

Decatur Heritage 9, Mae Jemison 2: Allie Tidwell had two hits and two RBIs as Decatur Heritage breezed past Mae Jemison.

Ardmore 3, Sipsey Valley 2: Ellie Riley had two hits and two RBIs, while Aynslee Malone added two hits as the Tigers edged Sipsey Valley.

Decatur Heritage 5, Falkville 0: Aliyuh Jones had two hits and three RBIs to lead Decatur Heritage to a win. Madison Veal finished with two hits for Falkville.

Ardmore 6, Scottsboro 0: Ellie Riley and AG King each had two hits and three RBIs. Addison Mikel allowed four hits and no runs with five strikeouts in five innings.

American Christian Academy 4, Brewer 2: Keylyn Stapler and Cadence Lott each had a hit and an RBI as Brewer came up just short against ACA.

Mae Jemison 7, Falkville 5: Melody Sims had two hits and an RBI for Falkville against Mae Jemison.

Tuscaloosa County 5, Austin 0: Lyndi Perkins had the lone hit for the Black Bears.

Brookwood 7, Hatton 2: Brookwood scored five runs in the first inning to pull away from Hatton in the Hornets' season opener. Anna Kate Potter and Arlie Armstrong each had two hits for Hatton.

Fairhope 5, Lawrence County 2: Fairhope scored four runs in the first inning to hand the Red Devils their first loss of the season. Bella Cross and LA Norwood each had a hit and an RBI.

Buckhorn 3, Brewer 0: Buckhorn held Brewer to just one hit on Friday.

Thompson 12, Hatton 0: Arlie Armstrong had the lone hit as Hatton fell to 7A Thompson.

Curry 20, Decatur 0: Decatur fell hard against Curry on Friday.

Calhoun women's golf

The Calhoun women's golf team won the team's first ever championship when they competed at the Snead State Invitational Collegiate tournament this past week. The tournament took place at the Azalea City golf course in Mobile.

Gracee Prince shot a 79 on Monday and a 75 on Tuesday to become the first individual champion in the program's history. Prince along with Raina Choi were named to the all-tournament team.
