Prep roundup: Laingsburg, Eaton Rapids softball record league sweeps

SOFTBALL

LAINGSBURG 10. PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 0 / LAINGSBURG 11, PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 3

Ashley Bila had a pair of triples and three RBI and Savanna Stirm had three hits and Addyson Buchin struck out eight while recording the shutout in the opener for Laingsburg. Bila went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs in the finale for the Wolfpack as they completed the CMAC sweep.

EATON RAPIDS 4, PORTLAND 0 / EATON RAPIDS 6, PORTLAND 1

Ari Brooks picked up both wins on the mound and notched a combined 21 strikeouts through both games to lead the Greyhounds to a CAAC White sweep of Portland. Mallory Smith went 3-for-3 in game one, Izzy Hoag tallied two hits and two RBI and Abi Pratt chipped in two hits for Eaton Rapids.

LESLIE 10, JACKSON NORTHWEST 4 / LESLIE 7, JACKSON NORTHWEST 6

Jalen Fossitt had a double and home run and drove in three runs while Ada Bradford struck out 15 for the Blackhawks in their opening win. Gabby Waldofsky went 4-for-4 and scored two runs and Myah Fletcher had two RBI to help Leslie complete the sweep. The Blackhawks scored two in the top of the seventh to rally to the win in the finale.

PERRY 5, STOCKBRIDGE 1 / PERRY 17 STOCKBRIDGE 7

Jenna O'Bryant went a combined 6-for-9 with six RBI to lead the Ramblers to a pair of nonleague wins over Stockbridge. Teagen Hallock picked up four hits two RBI and three runs in game two and Sara Austin added on five hits, a double and five RBI for Perry.

DeWitt’s Justin Steinman was the medalist during Friday’s action at the Pohlcat Golf Club. He shot a 75 to win the event by a stroke. Haslett’s Luke Blattert and Carter Gerard tied for eight and had rounds of 79. DeWitt finished as the team runner-up and shot a 323, while Haslett finished fourth and had a score of 325

BASEBALL

CHARLOTTE 8, EAST LANSING 6 / CHARLOTTE 7, EAST LANSING 4

Aaron Brown and Ty Bowzer each picked up a victory as the Orioles picked up a nonleague sweep over East Lansing. Aiden Laverty notched three hits, a double and two RBI and Nathan Penfield and Aaron Brown each added two hits and a RBI for Charlotte. Paul Van Dam picked up a team-high five hits and two RBI and Ethan Shipley finished with three hits for East Lansing.
