Prep roundup: Hartland sets up girls soccer showdown with Salem

Hartland remains in first place in KLAA West girls soccer and can strengthen its hold on the top Tuesday when the Eagles look to avenge their only loss of the season.

Hartland extended its winning streak to seven games Thursday with a 5-1 victory over Plymouth.

The Eagles are 6-1 in the KLAA West after the first round of division play, good for 18 points. Salem, which beat Hartland 2-1 in the season opener on March 21, is tied for second place with Canton at 4-1-2 for 14 points.

Salem will visit Hartland at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

“It will be a good test to see where we both are at this point,” Hartland coach Andrew Kartsounes said.

Hartland had enough goals after 10 minutes to beat Plymouth.

Emma Kastamo scored 29 seconds into the game, then set up Josie Cheyne to make it 2-0 10 minutes in.

After a Plymouth goal, the Eagles extended their lead to 4-1 by halftime on goals three minutes apart by defender Eva Larson off a corner kick and Alyse Daavettila.
