Prep Roundup: Glads rout Cheboygan 49-7; Traverse City West boys tennis, soccer both in action; St. Francis XC wins Bluejay Invite

Sep. 30—CHEBOYGAN — After losing 44-21 to Kingsley in Week Five, Traverse City St. Francis quickly turned page with a 49-7 road win against Cheboygan on Saturday.

Cam Sellers was the leading scorer for the Gladiators by finding the end zone three times in the varsity football action at Thirlby Field.

Sellers scored two of his touchdowns in the first quarter to help give the Glads a 21-0 lead. Tyler Kadlec started the second quarter with a quick score add to the lead.

Jack Gruber's touchdown put St. Francis up 35-0 in the first half. Cheboygan's only touchdown came midway through the third quarter. Sellers answered the touchdown with one of his own.

Tyler Sheeran put the final nail in the coffin to put the Glads up 49-7 to make it the largest margin of victory for the Glads this season.

St. Francis (3-3, 2-2 Northern Michigan Football) hosts Division 7 reigning state champion Jackson Lumen Christi on Saturday.

TC Central wins Portage Central Invite

PORTAGE — Traverse City Central volleyball came away with the title at the Portage Central Invitational on Saturday after defeating Portage Central 25-7, 25-3 in the finals.

The Trojans lost to Marshall in their first game, but they bounced back with three straight wins — beating Livonia Stevenson, Kalamazoo Christian then South Haven in the semifinals.

Elyse Heffner cemented herself in TC Central history after collecting her 1,000th career kill.

The Trojans welcome Cadillac on Wednesday.

TC West splits Saginaw Heritage tri

SAGINAW — Traverse City West boys tennis spent Saturday morning at Saginaw Heritage for a tri against Bay City Central and Saginaw Heritage.

The Titans brought their best game to the Saginaw Heritage tri and beat Bay City Central, 7-1, but lost to Saginaw Heritage, 3-5. The highlight match was Tyler Chan and Christian Henry winning at two-doubles, 6-3 6-0.

"The Titans made sure to never give up and prove to still be strong opponents," Henry said.

Glads' finish third at Eisenhower quad

SHELBY — Traverse City St. Francis left the Eisenhower quad on Saturday with a third-place finish after going head to head against Eisenhower, Detroit County Day and Ann Arbor Skyline.

Owen Jackson at one-singles finished the day 2-1 with a loss against Detroit County Day. Chris Bobrowski, at two-singles, swept the competition with three straight wins.

Luke Bobrowski, at four-singles, went 2-1 with wins over Eisenhower and Ann Arbor Skyline. Eli Schmude and David Ansley, at one-doubles, collected wins against Eisenhower and Ann Harbor Skyline but fell to Detroit County Day.

Schmude and Ansley were the only doubles team to collect more than two wins.

Cadillac's girls team finishes top 10 at Allendale Invite

ALLENDALE — The Cadillac cross country team left the Allendale Falcon Invitational on Saturday with the girls team finishing sixth overall in the Big School race with 175 points and the boys finishing 11th.

Sophomore Brooklynn Brown placed ninth with 19:12.24. Senior Nolan Nixon placed 10th with a 16:02.72 finish time.

The Vikings are at Mancelona on Wednesday.
