Portsmouth-Oyster River's Emmanuel Poe wins Athlete of the Week for Nov. 6-12

The Seacoast high school Athlete of the Week winner for Nov. 6-12 is Portsmouth-Oyster River high school football player Emmanuel Poe. The weekly vote highlighting outstanding high school athletes is presented by York County Community College.

Poe joins previous boys winners this fall: Oyster River soccer player Evan Whalen, Exeter soccer player Marshall Lasewicz, Spaulding football/soccer player Nathan Devine, Oyster River soccer player Ben Limric, Oyster River golfer Myles O'Quinn, Spaulding football player Hunter Trueman, Portsmouth unified soccer player Riley Willard, Oyster River soccer player Logan Piller, Portsmouth/Oyster River football player Angus Moss and Winnacunnet golfer Jimmy Schouller.

There was no girls winner for the week of Nov. 6-12 because there were no girls teams playing games during this time period.

Girls winners this fall are: Berwick Academy's Allie Moore, Dover field hockey player Gaby Anderson, Newmarket soccer player Emma Walkowiak, Portsmouth field hockey player Reese McCauley, Portsmouth soccer player Ailish Honda, Exeter soccer player Lauren Roeder, Portsmouth field hockey player Audrey Walsh, St. Thomas Aquinas soccer player Maddie Karsonovich, Winnacunnet soccer player Maitri Clifford and St. Thomas Aquinas soccer player Kate Burrus.

The weekly poll runs each Monday through midnight Thursday, and can be found at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports.

Poe secured just under 40 percent of the online vote, with 235 to win the honor. Somersworth football player Seth Worell finished second with 232 votes.

Exeter unified soccer player Devin Stone finished with 104 votes, Kennebunk's Jonah Barstow had 13 votes and Wells football player Dom Buxton had 11, to round out the top five, respectively.

Poe had 44 rushing yards and a score, 16 receiving yards and had an interception for the ClipperCats in last Friday's 20-0 Division I quarterfinal win over Nashua North.

"(Poe) has been there all year making big plays at key times," Portsmouth-Oyster River head coach Brian Pafford said. "Last week's (plays) were the biggest of the year in the biggest game of the year to date."
