Portage high school scores | Nov. 28: Field, Rootstown, Streetsboro basketball triumph

Delilah Rahe drained two free throws with 9.1 seconds remaining to lift Field to a thrilling 34-33 victory over Canton Central Catholic in girls basketball Tuesday. Rahe, a junior, scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half, leading all players in points and rebounds (14).

Ally Harlin also finished in double figures (11 points) for the Falcons (1-1), who won the rebounding (31-20) and turnover (15-7) battles.

Ellie Buckler led the Crusaders with 13 points.

Streetsboro 75, Ellet 66

Five players finished in double digits for the Rockets in their opener.

Naomi Benson led Streetsboro with 15 points, and Olivia Johnson-Wilson (14), Ella Kassan (13), Sydney Abbuhl (13) and Carlee Bedford (11) also scored in double figures.

The host Rockets made six 3-pointers in the victory, including two apiece by Bedford and Johnson-Wilson, and scored 20-plus points in three of four quarters. They won despite massive nights by Caitlyn Holmes, who led all scorers with 29 points, and Sanaiiya Gray, who added 20 for the Orangemen.

Rootstown 69, Crestwood 13

The Rovers (3-0) scored an impressive 54 first-half points, including the game's first 21 points, to remain undefeated.

Rootstown led throughout, getting six-plus points from seven different players: Nadia Lough (19), Kelsey Bittecuffer (9), Brooklynn McIntyre (8), Porter Smith (8), Addy Germann (7), Abby White (7) and Colbie Curall (6).

McDonald 45, Windham 42

Down seven at the end of the first quarter and at the half, the Bombers kept battling and outscored the Blue Devils 16-10 in the fourth quarter to pull out a victory.

Briah Daniel and Mariah Woods had 14 points apiece to lead Windham, combining to score all 16 of the team's fourth-quarter points.

McDonald's Gracie Callow led all scorers with 17 points and Juliana Krumpak added 15.
