Playoff preview? Experts predict Bengals-Bills on SNF; Ja'Marr Chase teaches the 'Griddy'

The Cincinnati Bengals host the Buffalo Bills in primetime at Paycor Stadium Sunday night in one of the marquee NFL matchups of Week 9.

The Bengals are climbing up NFL power ranking boards after an impressive 31-17 road victory over the San Francisco 49ers last week, but will they build on a three-game winning streak when the Bills come to town in a playoff rematch from last season?

The Bengals are 0-9 all-time in the regular season on NBC's Sunday Night Football. Cincinnati's last win on Sunday Night Football was in Carson Palmer's first home start in 2004, a 16-13 victory over the Miami Dolphins when ESPN carried the game.

"NFL Gameday View" crew favors Buffalo Bills

On NFL Network Sunday morning, two analysts sided with the Buffalo Bills to come to Cincinnati and get a crucial victory in a potential "playoff preview."

Greg Rosenthal was encouraged with the Bills' 24-18 win last week over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, specifically with Buffalo's offense going hurry-up and allowing quarterback Josh Allen to make plays with his legs. Allen ran for 41 yards and a touchdown and threw for 324 yards and two scores.

"They (Bills) get up for these big games," Rosenthal said.

Prediction: Bills 28, Bengals 27

Cynthia Frelund also went with Buffalo, pointing out the Bills' defense got a bump this week with the signing of two-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Linval Joseph along with defensive back Rasul Douglas, who they acquired in a trade with Green Bay. Up front, Frelund believes the Bills can contain Bengals' running back Joe Mixon, who ran for 105 yards and a score in last year's playoff win in Buffalo.

Prediction: Bills 24, Bengals 23

Patrick Claybon was the only analyst to pick Cincinnati, banking on quarterback Joe Burrow, who is 4-0 in home primetime games in his career. He also praised the Bengals' defense, which has not allowed more than 20 points in a game since Week 4 and has recorded multiple turnovers in three consecutive games.

"We've seen this defense deliver late into the regular season and into the postseason," Claybon said. "If I can take the Bengals in a big game at home, the way Joe Burrow is playing right now, the way Ja'Marr Chase is playing right now, I'll take it."

Prediction: Bengals 27, Bills 24

'I just want to celebrate with Ja'Marr in the endzone.'

Devin McCourty's 13-year NFL playing career included a pair of Pro Bowl nods and three Super Bowl championships as a member of the New England Patriots. McCourty may want to return to the field in a Bengals' uniform after learning the "Griddy" from Ja'Marr Chase this week in a pregame interview for NBC Sports.
