Star Power! Who had the top performances in high school sports last week?

Last week was the final week of the regular season for many teams, while those in the PCL already began their playoff journeys. In addition, golfers wrapped up their season at the PIAA Championships.

Check out the top performances of the week from soccer, field hockey, cross country, volleyball and golf right here! And be sure to vote in the latest Boys Athlete of the Week Poll, and Girls Athlete of the Week Poll beginning Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Performers of the Week in Field Hockey:

Kiersten Schilk, George School

The goalie issued a shutout against league opponent Friends Select, securing a 1-0 win and clinching the third seed for the Cougars in the FSL playoffs.

Maura Johnson, Lansdale Catholic

The junior had the second half of a lifetime in the PCL quarterfinals. Returning from intermission tied 2-2, Johnson scored three goals in the second half to propel the Crusaders to a 7-2 victory over Conwell-Egan.

Anna Cusumano, Lansdale Catholic

Cusumano scored two goals in the first half to help the Crusaders to a 7-2 win over Conwell-Egan in the PCL quarterfinals. The senior and Catholic University commit tallied the first two goals of the game for the Crusaders, tying the match before halftime.

Dakota Poland, Conwell-Egan

The senior scored both of the Eagles’ two goals in their PCL quarterfinal matchup. No. 6 CEC fell to No. 3 Lansdale Catholic.

Cassidy Landis, Quakertown

Landis recorded a pair of goals in the Panthers’ final game of the regular season, leading the way to a win that clinched a share of the SOL Liberty Division. It was the first SOL title for Quakertown since 1991.

Ash Conrad, Upper Moreland

Since stepping in front of the cage due to injuries to UM starters, Conrad has excelled. The goalie made 23 saves and allowed three goals in the Golden Bears’ loss to New Hope-Solebury, one of the highest-scoring teams in the league.

Performers of the Week in Cross Country:

Nieve Keitel, Germantown Academy

The freshman took third place in the girls 5,000-meter run at the Inter-Ac Cross Country Championships with a time of 20:24.9.

Margaret Massengill, George School

The sophomore is the Friends Schools League champion after winning the girls 5,000-meter run at the FSL Cross Country Championship. Massengill crossed the finish line in 18:56.6 to take home gold.

Gwen Hamilton, Archbishop Wood

The sophomore became a two-time PCL Cross Country champion on Saturday. Hamilton won the varsity girls 5,000-meter with a time of 20:22.47, bringing home gold for the second straight year.

Cole Casadei, La Salle

The senior claimed two titles at the PCL Cross Country championships on Saturday. Casadei won an individual title in the boys 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 15:50.95 at Belmont Plateau. His time helped the Explorers win the team championship for the eighth straight season.

Performers of the Week in Golf:

John Stevenson, La Salle

The senior closed out the season with a 10th-place finish at the PIAA 3A Boys Individual Golf Championships. Stevenson shot a 2-under par 142 on the Penn State course.

Sebastian Botero, La Salle

Botero shot a 5-over-par 149 to finish 31st at the PIAA 3A Boys golf championship. In the team championships, Botero’s round of 70 helped the Explorers clinch second place with a 2-under 286.

Alli Engart, Souderton

Engart took 16th place at the PIAA 3A Girls Individual Championships with a 12-over-par 156.

Performers of the Week in Soccer:

Faith Sullivan, Villa Joseph Marie

The senior scored two goals in the Jems’ 3-0 win against Merion Mercy. The victory clinched the Catholic Academies League title for the Jems and the top seed in the District One 3A playoffs.

Rachel McMonagle, Quakertown

The junior scored two goals to help the Panthers top Cheltenham in their final game of the regular season and secure one of the final spots in the District One 4A playoffs.

Ryan Kalup, La Salle

The goalie secured a thrilling win for the Explorers in the PCL quarterfinals against Roman Catholic. After holding Roman scoreless through the second half and two overtimes, Kalup made two stops on Roman’s penalty kicks to clinch the victory (4-2 PK).

Mark Mazzoni, La Salle

Mazzoni scored La Salle’s lone goal in their quarterfinal matchup against Roman Catholic. After a 1-1 deadlock, the Explorers won the game on PKs.

Albert Funk, Archbishop Wood

Funk delivered a first-half goal for the Vikings that would hold as the game-winner in a 2-0 victory over Conwell-Egan in the PCL quarterfinals.

Danny Shelak, Lansdale Catholic

The Crusaders’ goalie held Archbishop Ryan scoreless for over 90 minutes in an intense PCL quarterfinal game. No. 3 Archbishop Ryan won 1-0 in double overtime over No. 6 Lansdale Catholic.

Julian Naumenko, Archbishop Wood

The Vikings’ goalie delivered a shutout against Conwell-Egan to secure a 2-0 win in the PCL quarterfinals.

Zach Dinnis, William Tennent

The Panthers’ goalie made a crucial stop on a penalty kick to secure a 2-1 win over Lower Moreland that bumped Tennent up to No. 22 in the District One 4A tournament.

Joe Picone, New Hope-Solebury

Picone made sure the Lions would end a tough season on a positive note. The midfielder scored the lone goal of the game to give the Lions their first win of the season in a 1-0 victory against Upper Moreland.

Jake Luciani, Souderton

The senior put an exclamation point on Souderton’s Senior Night. Luciani scored the game-winning goal in overtime to give the Indians a 2-1 win over CB West. In addition, the win helped Souderton clinch the 28th and final spot in the District One-4A playoffs.

Performers of the Week in Girls Volleyball:

Sara Barats, Villa Joseph Marie

The senior reached a major milestone last week when she recorded her 1,000th career assist in the Jems’ 3-1 win over CB East.

Faith Szumigala, Pennsbury

The senior concluded the regular season with a pair of major milestones. The setter recorded her 1,000th career assist during the Falcons’ 3-0 sweep of Neshaminy, and earlier in the week she reached 100 career service aces in a win over Truman. The Falcons secured the No. 5 seed in the District One 4A playoffs and will have a first-round bye.

Talia DiMichele, Bensalem

In two matches last week, both wins, the junior setter tallied 43 assists and eight aces. With the victories, the Owls clinched the final spot in the District One 4A playoffs for their first district playoff appearance in team history.

Lily Milewski, Conwell-Egan

The junior recorded 21 digs, nine kills and three blocks in a 3-2 win over CB South to close out the regular season. Milewski reached 300 career kills in the match.

Molly Milewski, Conwell-Egan

The senior concluded the regular season with yet another milestone. In a 3-0 win over MaST Charter, Milewski dished out 14 assists to reach 400 assists on the season. For her career, Milewski has over 1,400 assists and 600 digs, both of which are team records.
