The Philadelphia Phillies have released their new "Unapologetically Philly" MLB City Connect jerseys. Starting on April 12 against the Pittsburg Pirates, the Phillies will wear these new jerseys every Friday as part of their "Lights Up Friday night" campaign.

According to MLB's Todd Zolecki, Bryce Harper, the franchise's face, was invited to Clearwater, Florida, to see the Nike City Connect uniforms before they were released and valued his opinion on the new threads.

"They're dope," Zolecki reported Harper said after getting a sneak peek at the jerseys.

A different look for the Phillies

The Nike-made jerseys are ombre blue, fading from dark to light. Across the chest, "Philly" is in large white letters, and the Nike logo is in yellow. The sleeves yellow detail to match the Nike logo. A stark difference from the large red letters that are featured on the traditional jerseys the Phillies wear.

The Philadelphia Phillies helmet and hat are midnight blue with a matte finish featuring the Liberty Bell with two yellow stars. The bell contains a midnight city skyline against a light blue sky.

"I never thought blue, yellow, that kind of thing. I never thought those were going to be the colors. I thought red or green for the Phanatic, or even black. Those were on my mind before I saw it," Harper said to MLB. "And then I saw it, and then I got the story behind it, and I thought it was cool. It's way different than anything anybody could have ever imagined, but it comes together so well. The look, the story, everything."

The new Philly Connect jerseys will be available starting Friday, April 5, at the 3 New Era Phillies Team Store located in Citizens Bank Park. The jersey can also be purchased online at mlbshop.com for $154.99, which includes free shipping.
