Phil Kessel agrees to one-year, $1.5 million deal with Golden Knights

On Wednesday, the Vegas Golden Knights announced that they have signed forward Phil Kessel to a one year, $1.5 million deal.

Kessel, 34, previously played for the Arizona Coyotes since the 2019-2012 season. In 82 games last season, he scored eight goals and registered 44 assists for 52 points.

Kessel has scored 399 goals and notched 557 assists for 956 points in 1,204 career NHL games split between the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins and Arizona.

The fifth-overall pick of the 2006 NHL Draft holds the NHL's iron man streak, which currently sits at 982 straight games. Kessel took over as the league's iron man after veteran defenceman Keith Yandle of the Philadelphia Flyers was a healthy scratch in March, ending his streak at 989.

The Madison, Wisconsin native won two Stanley Cups as a member of the Penguins, and also earned a silver medal with the United States at the 2010 Vancouver winter Olympics.
