UPDATED: Petoskey vs. Alpena in a weather delay, start pushed back

UPDATED: 8:35 p.m.

PETOSKEY — The anticipation for the Petoskey vs. Alpena varsity football game grew a little Friday night.

The Northmen and Wildcats sat in a lightning delay at Northmen Stadium, pushing game time back a bit.

As of 8:30, we now have a predicted start time. A 10 minute clock began at 8:33 p.m., then a 30 minute player warmup period will follow.

Game time is expected to begin at 9:10 p.m. according to Petoskey Athletic Director Joel Dohm.

The game will come with a shortened halftime of 12 minutes, plus three minutes for warmup.

Lighting strikes south of Petoskey forced a lightning delay beginning around 6 p.m. A delay goes into effect 30 minutes from the sight of a lightning strike, then after that, a 30 minute warmup takes place.

The Petoskey vs. Alpena game has been pushed back due to weather in the area.

The stadium had been cleared to the Northmen Stadium mezzanine area, as fans are not permitted to sit in the stands during the delay. They are being asked to shelter in cars until the delay is lifted.

Petoskey (2-2) is coming off a 9-0 loss against Gaylord (4-0), while Alpena (1-3) heads in having lost three straight.
