Peter Schrager shares details from Sean McVay’s wedding: Guest list, dance floor king and food spread

After two cancellations due to COVID-19, Sean McVay and his fiancée Veronika finally tied the knot in Los Angeles over the weekend. McVay joked last week that it felt like he’d been engaged “for about 12 years” because of the delays with the wedding, but it sounds like the party was worth the wait.

NFL Network’s Peter Schrager, who’s good friends with McVay, got an invite to the wedding and on “Good Morning Football” Monday, he shared all the details from the weekend. For starters, the guest list was a who’s who of the football community.

Aaron Donald, Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, Andrew Whitworth and Connor Barwin were all in attendance, and there were probably several other players there, too. But the group that really upped the head count was McVay’s coaching colleagues.

Kliff Kingsbury, Brandon Staley, Matt LaFleur, Joe Barry, Liam Coen and Raheem Morris got invites, partying it up with Mr. and Mrs. McVay in L.A. Many of McVay’s previous assistant coaches were there, too: Jay Gruden, Kevin O’Connell, Jedd Fisch, Dave Ragone, Aubrey Pleasant.

“It was cool to see all the people in Sean’s coaching life come out and fly in from all these different places,” Schrager said.

As for the king of the dance floor, that title went to Morris.

“This is the most charismatic man in football,” Schrager said. “When I tell you this man walked in the room and the entire players section to the coaches section was like, ‘Ahh,’ Raheem Morris is the winner. We got on the dance floor and Raheem got everyone off their feet and was like, ‘No, we are going to dance. We are not going to sit in the hallway and talk about a 9 route.’ Rah brought it. He’s the best.”

Schrager said the food was delicious, starting off “with a nice sushi spread when you first get there, and I’m not talking about sushi you get at the Port Authority bus terminal.”

“I’m talking about some of the finest sushi I’ve ever seen. Sushi that might’ve been wrapped straight from the Pacific Ocean,” he said. There was also “delicious burrata to start,” and a choice of fish or steak for dinner.

Based on Schrager’s recollection of the night, it sounds like the McVay wedding lived up to the hype.
