Personal Best/AES/Ledo Pizza Patriots down Braddock, 48-24, in CAYFL D1 semifinals
Oct. 29—CUMBERLAND — The Personal Best/AES/Ledo Pizza Patriots scored 30 first-half points to rout the Braddock Warriors, 48-24, in the Cumberland Area Youth Football League Division 1 semifinals last Sunday.
The 8-0 Patriots play the 7-1 Ridgeley Rams today for the championship at Greenway Avenue Stadium at 8 p.m. The bout is a rematch of last year's title game, a 26-6 Patriots win.
The Division 2 Little Super Bowl will be played first at 6 p.m.
Against Braddock, the Patriots' Isaiah Welsh had the hot hand in the running game, rushing for 171 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Devon Robinson also topped 100 yards with 100 and a score on seven totes.
Channing Logsdon ran it eight times for 85 yards and two scores and catch two passes for 16 yards. Gabe George had four carries for 54 yards and a touchdowns. Levi House completed 4 of 5 passes for 65 yards and had 15 yards on three runs.
The Patriots led 16-0 after the first quarter thanks to a 14-yard touchdown run by Logsdon and a five-yard TD scamper by Welsh. Davonte Jones made both PATs.
Robinson added a seven-yards scoring run in the second period and Welsh tallied a second rushing score from 38 yards to make it 30-0 Patriots.
Braddock quarterback Keonte Bible completed an eight-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Blank to trim the deficit to 30-8 at the half following Kyren Freeman's PAT. Freeman was 3 for 3 on extra points.
Jackson Spangler returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown in the third and Logsdon found the end zone on a 14-yard scoring run. Bible made it 42-16 Patriots after the third with a one-yard TD run.
George notched the Patriots' final score with a 12-yard run in the fourth, and Blank notched a one-yard touchdown for Braddock's third TD.
Logsdon led the Patriots' defense with 11 stops. George racked up 10, AJ Adams had seven, Gabe Simmons, House and Marquis Trimble tallied six, and Spangler, Hunter Shambaugh, Jachai St. Surin and Matt Coleman racked up five.
Trimble also intercepted a pass.
Bible was Braddock's offensive standout, and Maddox Hensel shined on defense.
