Perrion Winfrey signs rookie deal, Browns draft class all signed before training camp

With training camp opening up on Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns 90-man roster is now full. With the addition of QB Josh Rosen, the Browns had one roster spot available which was earmarked to finalize their draft class signings.

Finally Friday, DT Perrion Winfrey signed his contract as the last member of the team’s 2022 NFL draft class.

Winfrey’s signing, and at the time K Cade York’s, seemingly was held up by the Houston Texans giving out more guaranteed money to their fourth-round pick.

Winfrey arrived Friday to sign his deal and complete his physical to begin training camp. He is expected to compete immediately for playing time in the middle of Cleveland’s defensive line. Making the preseason ‘All-Rookie Team’ makes sense given his opportunity.

The fiery, fast tackle can penetrate to make life difficult for offensive lines but has the strength to hold the point of attack as well. Looking back at game film with DL coach Chris Kiffin provided insight into his game.

On Thursday, Brad Stainbrook was the first to report Winfrey’s signing. A few draft selections around the NFL still remained unsigned going into the weekend but Cleveland has their class locked up.
