Perfect games & walk-off wins top high school action for spring season in Bucks County area
Despite a rain-drenched week, the spring season is off to a sizzling start. If you like perfect games, walk-off home runs and OT victories, you're in the right place. Check out last week's top performances from baseball, softball and lacrosse, and be sure to vote in the spring's first Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week polls.
Top Performances in Softball:
Delaney Stout, Upper Moreland
The freshman had a memorable debut, pitching five shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out 11, and driving in three runs on a single and a double in a win over Phoenixville. Against William Tennent, she gave up two runs while striking out 12, and had two hits, including a double, in a 4-2 victory, and in a 3-1 win over Dock Mennonite, she allowed one hit while striking out 15.
Mabel Klossner, New Hope-Solebury
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Klossner came up to the plate with her Lions down a run, and scorched a two-run, walk-off single to give New Hope a 6-5 win over Springfield.
Ava Beal, Quakertown
Beal was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base in the Panthers win over Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Alyssa Tooley, Hatboro-Horsham
Tooley turned in a masterpiece in the circle, pitching 11 innings where she allowed two runs (one earned) while striking out 22 in the 3-2 win over Abington.
Averi Dockery, Pennridge
The junior struck out 11 and gave up just two hits and no walks in a 3-1 win over Souderton. At the plate, Dockery had two hits and scored twice. Against Methacton, she gave up four hits while striking out 10 to secure the 1-0 victory.
Chloe Dryden, CB West
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh against North Penn, Dryden singled up the middle to give the Bucks the walk-off win. Dryden had two RBIs in the 6-5 victory, which was the Bucks first win over NP in more than a decade. It was also the first loss for NP in the last 29 games.
Anna Evanchik, Pennsbury
The Falcons’ pitcher tossed four shutout innings, but her performance at the plate was even more impressive. Evanchik was 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs in the win over Truman.
Helen Woloshyn, CR South
The Golden Hawks’ leadoff hitter had a memorable afternoon when she recorded her 100th career stolen base in a win against Neshaminy on Tuesday. Woloshyn went 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored, one RBI and one stolen base. In a victory over Spring-Ford, she was 2-for-4 with a pair of stolen bases.
Lauren Leshak, Lansdale Catholic
The Crusaders’ ace opened the season with a 17-strikeout performance against Faith Christian, and followed with 13 strikeouts in a win over Perkiomen School.
Aubrey Merz, Bensalem
The freshman cracked a solo home and later had an RBI groundout to help the Owls edge CR North 10-9.
Jordyn Loy, Harry S. Truman
Loy went 3-for-5 with a double and triple, stole two bases and scored three runs as the Tigers opened the season with an 11-0 win over Calvary Christian. She followed with three hits in a victory over Wissahickon.
Elena Bhatt, CB East
The sophomore went 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs, one stolen base and scored four runs in a win over Lower Moreland.
Sarah Zmuda, CB East
The freshman had a standout debut in the circle, tossing a five-inning shutout, allowing a lone walk and no hits while striking out eight in a 15-0 win against Lower Moreland.
Natalie Broskley, Abington
Broskley singled in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning as the Ghosts edged Strath Haven 3-2.
Chelsea Seiler, CR North
She went 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI to help CR North edge Hatboro-Horsham 5-3.
McKenna Schroding, Souderton
The Souderton ace struck out 11 while giving up five hits and one walk in a complete game effort to secure the win over Upper Perkiomen. In a victory against Flint Hill, she allowed two hits and one walk while striking out 14.
Cadence Lewis, Quakertown
In the top of the eighth, Lewis smacked a two-run single that gave Quakertown a 5-3 win over CB West. She finished with three hits, including a double, and three RBIs.
Kira Jefferson, Quakertown
She was a perfect 3-for-3 with a home runs and two RBIs in a win over Upper Perkiomen.
Jamie Green, William Tennent
She drove in five runs and scored twice, going 3-for-3 at the plate in a win over Springfield.
Dagny Mobley, New Hope-Solebury
Mobley hit an inside-the-park grand slam in a wild 15-13 win over Cheltenham. She finished with six RBIs.
Brittany Roman, Morrisville
The senior was a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBIs and four runs scored in the Bulldogs win over Lincoln Leadership.
Aubrey Gahman, Dock Mennonite
Gahman had three hits and drove in three runs to help the Pioneers edge Lansdale Catholic 11-10. She had two hits and two RBIs in a win over Delco Christian.
Bella Nunn, North Penn
In her first varsity pitching start, Nunn threw a complete-game no-hitter, fanning 17 batters along the way, in a 3-0 win against Pennridge. In a trip to Alabama, where the Knights faced last season’s state finalist, Nunn allowed three hits and one walk while striking out 13 in a 4-3 victory against Bibb High School.
Top Performances in Girls Lacrosse:
Paige Keller, CB East
Keller scored four goals in a 10-4 win over Jenkintown, and contributed three goals in a victory over Upper Perk.
Paige Dougherty, CB East
She scored four goals and assisted on three more in the Patriots win over Upper Perk.
Mia Geneles, CR South
She led the way with three goals and two assists in a win over Perk Valley.
Annalise Messina, Upper Moreland
Messina tallied seven goals and one assist in a win over Neshaminy. She had five goals, two assists and 12 draw controls in a loss to Pennridge.
Taylor Burkett, Pennridge
Burkett scored four goals and contributed two ground balls and a forced turnover in a win over Perkiomen Valley.
Jayden Bagby, Abington
The Ghosts’ goalie recorded 11 saves in the Ghosts’ win against high-scoring CB East.
Lucy Carney, CR North
The Indians’ goalie stood tall against powerhouse Gwynedd Mercy, notching 10 saves in the 15-2 win.
Tatum Andrews, Souderton
Andrews had a dominant outing against Dock Mennonite, scoring eight goals while assisting on two more in the win.
Grace Holmes, Pennsbury
Holmes scored seven goals and had 10 draw controls to power the Falcons in a win over Abington.
Top Performances in Boys Lacrosse:
Andrew Zazoff, CR North
Zazoff scored three goals and assisted on three more to lead the Indians to a 10-8 comeback win against Pennington School.
Christopher Glover, Harry S. Truman
Glover erupted for seven goals and two assists, along with 11 ground balls, in the Tigers win over Barrack Academy.
Tommy Bryson, Harry S. Truman
The Tigers’ goalie recorded 17 saves in a 17-3 win over Barrack Academy.
Frank Fanelli, Pennridge
He dished out six assists and scored three goals in a win over Southern Lehigh.
Matt Jacobson, CB West
Jacobsen scored six goals and won 9-of-10 faceoffs in the Bucks’ win over Abington.
Billy Houser, CR South
The Golden Hawks’ goalie recorded 19 saves, including six in the fourth quarter, to secure an 8-7 win over Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Alex Greenspan, CB West
The junior had three goals and three assists to lead the Bucks to an 8-7 win against high-powered Penncrest.

Colin Davis, Holy Ghost Prep
The sophomore hit a two-run home run in the Firebirds 6-5 win over PCL power Archbishop Wood.
Chase Ennis, Council Rock South
Ennis threw a complete-game no-hitter, walking one while striking out nine, in a 5-1 win over Bensalem. The Golden Hawks’ ace needed just 85 pitches in the feat, with the Owls scoring an unearned run.
Zach Neeld, Archbishop Wood
Neel went 2-for-2 with a three-run home run and 4 RBIs in a blowout win against Abraham Lincoln.
Joey Amati, Holy Ghost
Two of his three hits against Dock Mennonite were home runs, giving the senior 5 RBIs in the 10-0 win.
Brian Trailes, Lansdale Catholic
The senior went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs in a win over Central.
Kyle Tuthill, Conwell-Egan
The senior had a strong outing on the mound, tossing 6⅓ scoreless innings, giving up three hits while striking out nine in a 2-0 win against Pennington School.
Braydon Janzer, Conwell-Egan
The senior drove in five runs on a pair of doubles in the Eagles win over William Tennent.
Leor Kedar, Council Rock North
The Indians’ table-setter went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, driving in two runs in a 6-4 win against Holy Ghost.
Antonio Torres, Bristol
The senior was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three stolen bases in a win against Boys Latin. In a 6-1 win against Calvary Christian, Torres had another big game, driving in three runs on two hits, including a double.
Dom Capriotti, Bristol
The freshman was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs in a win over Valley Forge Military Academy.
Chase Bonner, Neshaminy
The senior hit a two-run double to key Neshaminy's offense in a 5-0 victory over CR South.
Jordan Czerniak, Pennsbury
The senior went 3-for-3 with a two-run homer and three runs scored in a 14-4 win against Harry S. Truman.
Jimmy Murray, Upper Moreland
The sophomore hit his first career home run and also doubled, driving in two runs in the Golden Bears 15-8 win against rival Lower Moreland.
Trevor Lugara, North Penn
The Knights’ ace threw a complete-game shutout against Pennridge, allowing a single hit while striking out nine in the 5-0 win. In a 2-0 victory against CB West, he gave up one hit and one walk, striking out seven, through six innings.
Jamie O’Neill, Hatboro-Horsham
O’Neill led the way from the mound and on the plate, pitching four shutout innings while going 2-for-3 with three RBIs in a win over Abington.
Sam Bliss, CB East
Bliss pitched a gem against rival CB South, giving up three hits and no walks while striking out seven in a complete-game shutout during a 2-0 win.
