'People' did feature on Mariah Riddlesprigger, Giannis Antetokounmpo's fiancée, for how she helps Milwaukee families in need

Mariah Riddlesprigger said she's found herself through helping Milwaukee families in need, along with her fiancée Giannis Antetokounmpo and the family's foundation. Now, the nation is finding out about it, too.

Earlier this week, People magazine featured her in a story about finding her own identity and giving back to Milwaukee.

"For the longest time, I struggled personally. What do I want to do?" Riddlesprigger told People. "It's hard to find your own identity sometimes because your life is so much them, your significant other, and what they do."

She found her identity through giving back and helping others.

How Mariah Riddlesprigger and her family have been helping Milwaukee families in need

The People report shared how Riddlesprigger got involved with the Milwaukee Diaper Mission, a basic-needs bank, and how that relationship has bloomed.

According to previous Journal Sentinel reports:

Over the years, Riddlesprigger has passionately thrown herself into supporting MDM and is on its board of directors.

When Antetokounmpo and Riddlesprigger welcomed their second son in 2021, they quickly realized how expensive it is to have two kids in diapers.

That year, to celebrate the birth of Maverick, and help Milwaukee-area families in need, they put on Maverick's Diaper Mission, a diaper drive in collaboration with MDM.

Since then, the event has become the annual BIG Give Back, which was put on by the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation this year. The People report also highlighted the CAFF, which is a global social impact foundation created by the Antetokounmpo family.

The culmination of this year's BIG Give Back — which raised $188,000 and collected 10,000 diapers — was a MDM drive-up distribution event, according to a previous JS report. It was held last month and hosted by Hayat Pharmacy, 807 W. Layton Ave.

Riddlesprigger, Antetokounmpo and their boys Liam and Maverick were there, handing out essentials, with the help of dozens of volunteers.

Several organizations participated in the distribution event, including Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, as well as businesses, including Culver's.

There were 40,000 diapers to distribute, and enough food and children's pain reliever for 300 families.

"Being able to help the Diaper Mission grow is exactly what we want to do," Riddlesprigger told People. "We want to help other organizations grow. We want to help Milwaukee grow. We want to help Athens and Nigeria and other places important to us in the world prosper and help the people there because we've been helped a lot throughout our lives."

"There's a lot of families out there that are in need over diapers," Antetokounmpo said in a previous JS report. "My family was one of them."

Back in the day, Antetokounmpo said, his mom needed to ask for help from neighbors, the church, organizations and the community.

"It was hard," he said. "Growing up, I didn't understand all the sacrifices people have to make in order for them to raise their kids."

Antetokounmpo and Riddlesprigger welcomed their third child, daughter Eva Brooke, in September.

What Mariah said about Giannis in the report

If a member of the Antetokounmpo family is passionate about something, the rest of the family supports them in it, Riddlesprigger said in the People report.

The family's continued community support shows that there's "much more" to Antetokounmpo than all the amazing things he does on the court, Riddlesprigger told People.

"Off the court, people don't get to see 100% of him," she said. "He's this genuine person, and I think it's just amazing. He enjoys doing what he does and meeting people."
