Penn's Christianson is Northern Indiana Conference girls swimming MVP

Penn High School senior Lily Christianson has been named the Northern Indiana Conference girls swimming Most Valuable Player as the all-conference was released.

Christianson is first-team All-NIC in the 100 breastroke, the 50 freestyle, the 400 freestyle and is a member of the first-team 200 medley relay team and 400 freestyle relay team. Christianson, in her four-year career, has set NIC Meet records in all but two of the 12 events. The two events she doesn't hold records in — diving and the 500 freestyle — she never competed in.

Penn coach Jess Preston has been named Coach of the Year.

Penn's Anika Guenther, Alayna Riggins and Kaia Podlin are the other members of the first-team 200 medley relay. Other Kingsmen on the first-team are Molly Barnes in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Lauren McGrath in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke, Riggins in the 100 butterfly, Podlin in the 100 freestyle. The 200 freestyle relay team of Podlin, Guenter, Barnes and Riggins and the 400 freestyle relay team of Podlin, Barnes, McGrath and Christianson.

Kailey Corban of Adams is the first-team diver.

Final standings: Penn 9-0, Adams 8-1, New Prairie 7-2, Elkhart 5-4, Riley 6-3, Saint Joseph 4-5, Bremen 3-6, Marian 2-7, Jimtown 1-8, Washington 0-9.
