Penn State offensive lineman announces decision for 2023
After joining the Penn State football program out of the transfer portal going into the 2022 season, Hunter Nourzad has decided he is not ready to going to be a one-and-done player for the Nittany Lions. In a post on his Twitter account on Tuesday, Nourzad announced he plans on returning for one more season at Penn State, giving Penn State’s offensive line a nice piece to return in 2023.
“I am grateful to be surrounded every day by a group of people who are hardworking, passionate and leaders in the community,” Nourzad said in his released statement.
“After careful thought and consideration with my family and coaches, I have decided to take advantage of my extra year of eligibility and return for my final season at Penn State in 2023,” Nourzad announced. “My work here isn’t done, and I look forward to returning to work alongside my brothers.”
The extra year of eligibility Nourzad is referring to is the extra year granted to all student-athletes who were active during the COVID-19 pandemic-impacted 2020 calendar. Nourzad transferred to Penn State from Cornell. The 2023 season will be Nourzad’s sixth year of eligibility.

Nourzad overcame an early injury in last weekend’s game against Indiana before returning to play well on the offensive line.
