With all the talk over the recent week being about the Buffalo Bills interest in North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, few have payed attention to another route that the team might pursue. Despite the fact that the Bills hosted Trubisky for a private workout session, there is another player which the team has done slightly more to see in the recent weeks.

Meeting with and hosting a private workout for Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Buffalo Bills have done slightly more when it comes to meeting with Mahomes than with Trubisky. One comment that could prove this added connection to be true is the fact that the Bills have hosted plenty of quarterbacks in recent weeks.

Much like head coach Sean McDermott stated that this could all be a smokescreen, these recent visits could be a way for the team to conceal their interest in Mahomes. The only quarterback that the Bills have seen more up close in rising Pittsburgh signal caller Nathan Peterman. For Mahomes, not only did they work him out in a private session, but they also met with him at the combine.

While this is all speculation from myself about the direction of the team going forward, the fact that Mahomes has met more with the Bills than Mitch Trubisky provides a potential hint at what direction the Bills are headed. Propping up recent media coverage about their interest in Trubisky could be the smokescreen needed to make teams forget about their interest in Patrick Mahomes.

A true gunslinger in every sense of the word, Patrick Mahomes has to be one of the most polished Air Raid quarterbacks to ever enter the NFL Draft. That said, he still has plenty of developing to do if he wants to be a quality quarterback at the NFL level. However, I believe that Mahomes may have the highest ceiling of any player in this year’s draft class.

Though the Bills look to be clearly interested in North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky, there is a chance that the team also has major interest in Patrick Mahomes. If this is the case, I would not be shocked to see the Bills pull off one of the draft’s biggest shockers by drafting Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
