Packers at Vikings: TV schedule, streaming, how to watch

The Green Bay Packers open up the 2020 season on the road Sunday against their division rival, the Minnesota Vikings. Despite initial fears of a delayed or lost season, the NFL is on track to begin.

The Packers own a 1-3 record at U.S. Bank Stadium and has never opened a season at Minnesota before this matchup. The Packers earned their first win at the venue last season in a convincing defeat of Mike Zimmer’s squad, 23-10. Za’Darius Smith had 3.5 of the defense’s five sacks of Kirk Cousins and Aaron Jones ran for 154 yards and two scores on the ground.

The Packers will see a different looking Minnesota defense this Sunday after the Vikings lost a host of defensive starters including defensive end Everson Griffen, defensive lineman Linval Joseph, cornerbacks Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander and Xavier Rhodes. The team will also be without defensive end Danielle Hunter for this game.

One new face on the defensive line will be Yannick Ngakoue, who was traded to Minnesota from Jacksonville in late August. Ngakoue has 37.5 career sacks and 14 forced fumbles since he was drafted as a third-round pick in 2016. Don’t be surprised to see him lined up across from whoever the Packers start at right tackle.

The Packers have lost a few core players themselves, but not as many. Starters Blake Martinez and Bryan Bulaga both departed for other teams, while Tramon Williams remains unsigned. Offseason acquisition Christian Kirksey replaces Martinez in the middle of the defense.

Green Bay will head back to Lambeau Field in Week 2 to face the Detroit Lions. This is the third year in a row the Packers have opened the season against two NFC North opponents.

FOX will broadcast the game. Chris Myers (play-by-play) will be joined by analysts Greg Jennings and Brock Huard in the booth with Jen Hale reporting from the sidelines.

The game can be heard over Milwaukee’s WTMJ (620 AM) and the Packers Radio Network, which is made up of 50 stations in five states. Wayne Larrivee (play-by-play) and Larry McCarren (analyst) will call the action over the air. The matchup will also be broadcasted by ESPN Radio and the WTMJ feed of Sirius Satellite Radio.
