Packers safety Jonathan Owens is 'so proud' of Simone Biles after she sets more gymnastics records at world championships

UPDATE: Simone Biles wins her sixth all-around world championship on Friday

There are many superlatives you can use to describe Simone Biles.

Greatest. Unstoppable. Legend. Icon. Champion.

Husband Jonathan Owens has another one: Elite.

Biles added to her remarkable legacy Wednesday when she starred for the gold-medal winning U.S. team at the world championships in Belgium, putting on a spectacular show every step of the way.

The 26-year-old led the team to a record seventh straight championship, breaking a tie with the Chinese men's team for most consecutive world titles, and helping the U.S. edge Brazil.

Like he has during Biles' latest achievements in the gymnastics arena over the last couple months on her comeback trial, Owens, who's in his first year with the Packers, was supporting his wife from afar. The two were married in the spring but have mostly been in a long-distance relationship since.

Owens, 28, shared many social media posts acknowledging Biles' and the team's accomplishments over the last couple days.

"So proud of you," he wrote in one message on his Instagram story that featured Biles and her teammates celebrating the championship after her score on the floor was revealed, a mark that clinched the title.

Over on X, formerly Twitter, he used a goat emoji with the word "Elite" to go with a video of Biles' sparkling routine on the floor.

The medal is Biles' 33rd across world championship and Olympic competitions, tying a record. The team victory now gives Biles 26 world championship medals, 20 of which are gold medals. She entered the meet as the all-time leader in both categories.

History is what Biles is all about lately. She already became the only U.S. woman ever to compete at six world championships.

Simone Biles competes on the uneven bars in the women's team final during the World Championships, in Antwerp, northern Belgium, Oct. 4. She led the team to a record seventh consecutive team championship.

Then during qualifying rounds earlier this week, Biles became the first woman to land the Yurchenko double pike on the vault. The name of the vault will now be known as "the Biles" in the women's scoring system.

And ahead of the world championships, Biles won a record eighth U.S. championship in California, continuing her triumphant return to gymnastics following the 2021 Olympics.

Biles will now look to add to her world championship medal count this weekend with individual events beginning Friday.

With the Packers not playing until Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders, you can bet Owens will be watching with the rest of the world.

And it's a good bet Biles collects more medals, particularly gold.
