Packers parody of Taylor Swift's 'You Need to Calm Down' invites pop superstar to 'come freeze your buns' off in Lambeau stands

You can’t say The Crispy Brothers haven’t done their part to help lure Taylor Swift to Lambeau Field.

“Wisconsin’s best/worst/only sport parody song creators” worked their creative magic on Swift’s 2019 song “You Need to Calm Down” and came up with “You Need to Come Down,” a warm and witty invite for the pop superstar to join Green Bay Packers fans down in the stands and out in the elements for a truly authentic Lambeau experience during Sunday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“It’s no biggie if you miss a play from Travis,” Tim Crispy sings. “Come freeze your buns off with some Packers fanatics.”

It’s still a mystery if Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, will even show up in a luxury box, as she has done at some Chiefs games. But if she makes the trip to Green Bay, the song reminds her that the real fun at Lambeau is among the bundled-up fans with brats, sauerkraut and a good stout.

Check out the chorus:

So oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

You need to come down and be with the crowd.

I’m like oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

Get out of the heat and out of that suite.

Let’s sip on some Crown. You need to come down.

The video mixes shots of Swift in suites with images of Packers fans in all their cold-weather game glory. Crispy, of Brookfield, performs the song solo, but his Crispy Brothers collaborator, Curteous, of Wauwatosa, helped with the concept.

“When we saw this (game) on the schedule and this whole craziness started, we’re like, ‘That’s a no-brainer,’” Crispy said.

Two other Swift songs were originally in the running for the parody treatment. “Welcome to New York” would’ve conveniently lent itself to “Welcome to Green Bay,” but that was too easy, Crispy said. “Cornelia Street,” with its possibilities for working in Lombardi Avenue, was a close second.

Crispy got a hand with all the ins and outs of all things Swift from his wife and daughter, who are big fans. But one of his favorite lines in the song, the mention of musician Todd Rundgren, whose “Bang the Drum All Day” is a staple of Lambeau games, was all his doing.

“I wanted to work in some of the things that make Lambeau Field different and special, and every time I hear that song, I think of Packers games, so I was happy I could get his name in there,” he said.

Crispy and Courteous have been best friends since they attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 2001 to 2005. They started doing songs together then and have picked it back up recently as 40-year-old dads.

For the record, Crispy is serious about that invite for Swift to wade into the stands. They’ll make room for her in his row.

“I doubt she sees this thing, but if she does, I’m going to say I’m in Section 344, Row 19, those are my season seats, if you want come on down and be with the crowd,” Crispy said. “If that would ever happen, I don’t know if she would make it back, you know? It would be pretty nuts.”
