Packers drop slightly in USA Today power rankings after unsightly loss in New York

The Green Bay Packers dropped only two spots in the USA Today NFL power rankings following Monday night’s disappointing loss to the New York Giants.

The 24-22 defeat — which featured three giveaways by the Packers and a late game-winning drive by the Giants — dropped Green Bay from No. 13 last to No. 15 entering Week 15.

Here’s the Packers blurb from Nate Davis this week:

Are Jordan Love’s 2023 Pack going to mimic Aaron Rodgers’ 2022 Pack? Good enough to claw out of a deep hole and make a late run … but maybe not much more if the tank hits empty shy of postseason?

With four games left, the Packers are clinging to the No. 7 seed in the NFC via tiebreakers over five other teams at 6-7.

Can Matt LaFleur’s team return home and respond in Week 15? The Tampa Bay Buccaneers — who have won two straight games — will head to Green Bay on Sunday as the current NFC South leaders and the No. 18 overall team in the power rankings. The Bucs moved up two spots after beating the Atlanta Falcons in Week 14.

A big opportunity awaits the Packers over the next two weeks with a home game against the Bucs and a trip to Carolina to play the No. 32 ranked Panthers. If the Packers are serious about a playoff appearance, getting to 8-7 is a must.
